Virginia Museum of History and Culture prides itself in being the only museum with all of Virginia’s history under one roof. This includes all centuries, all regions, and all topics. It is a private, non-profit organization, supported almost entirely by private contributions.

Virginia Museum of History and Culture

Massive renovations started in the fall of 2020 and were projected to finish in spring 2022. While in Virginia, you can visit daily from 10 a.m. Galleries and museum shops are open despite the renovations. Tickets cost ranges between $5 and $10. Admission to the library is included in your ticket. 

The Virginia Museum of History & Culture is the oldest cultural organization in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Constructed in 1831, it is one of the oldest and most distinguished history organizations in the nation. 

The museum boasts of a collection of more than 9 million items and serves as the state history museum. It displays permanent and special exhibitions as well as a vibrant portfolio of public programs.
